Return of a new trolley Route 3, and trolleys return to a new Route 1. Missigns everywhere -- the signs were not programmed for the new routes yet.
Kiepe 2052 on Route 3 southbound on Troy at Warner on August 31 2025. The north layover point for Route 9 / Route 5, from streetcar days, was Bickmore and Brandt. Routing south changed in 1950, but the layover remained. Residents did not like diesels laying over there, and over the years lodged complaints.
When the 2019 tornado hit, Route 5 turned to almost exclusively diesels, as a good chunk of the north end wire had to be removed. In 2021 the line stood down due to driver shortage and low ridership.
Original location of the new layover was at Troy and Leo. That lasted 1 1/2 days, until the police requested the stop be moved because it was a No Parking zone where two busy streets crossed. More on where it moved below.
